Maybe they should make movies based on Kipling's stories instead of Dickens. Then they would have the ability to more accurately cast their films.

I think Dev Patel could play any role he was asked to play. He'd be remembered even if he played a character with no lines at all. His facial expressions and body movements could carry him. He's so versatile and having those opportunities and seizing them is something I really admire in an actor/actress. I wonder if all the people moaning about Dev Patel portraying a fictional character from a book were just as angry when Armando Iannucci had British and American people portray Russians who actually existed in The Death of Stalin? Or does it only become an issue when non-white people are involved. There seems to be something a little off about this. but I cant put my finger on it🤦🏼‍♂️. This was an unbelievably refreshing film. A feast of humour! I found the physical humour particularly enjoyable because of how scarce it is in alot comedies these days. Dev is the most endearing guy 😆. David Copperfield was a white man and this is race bating nonsense and will lose.
